Radicalisation, British values & failure of differential government policy about religious freedoms
Following the Manchester mass murder by a suicidal British born Muslim, the current political debate has turned to the increasing threat of radical Islam. The question yet to be answered is how and why are British born young Muslims being radicalised to commit such horrendous acts? There is a constant reference to British values and the failure of the successive governments to tackle radicalisation.
While Sikhs readily accept different religious doors to the same Universal God, some clues to Islamic radicalisation, readily picked up by “Google search”, are given below so that the reader can form own conclusions. For decades, there has been open and even intimidating preaching in university campuses by Islamic zealots about the return of the Khilafah to establish the ideal global Islamic state. A website “Khilafah.com” informs us, “By arguing this, we also maintain Islam, as a universal ideology, came for all of humankind, Muslim and Non-Muslims, and as such it is only Islam that serves as a Rahma (mercy) for all mankind. As the western ideology dominates the world today, the only challenge to it must come from Islam.” (www.khilafah.com Editorial Team )
I make no excuse for quoting at length the background given by the same site to show the sort of Islamic propaganda to which young Muslim and non-Muslim youth have been exposed in the last few decades:- “ Since the 3rd March 1924, the Khilafah State was destroyed, marking the end of an illustrious era of Islamic rule. Since then, the dark shadow of the West has engulfed the world. We assert, without compromise, that it is only by the establishment of the Khilafah State, that the practical solutions of Islam can once again provide a real alternative for the entire world. The ‘Clash of Civilisations’ first discussed by Samuel Huntington is real and inevitable. We endorse the notion that there is a civilisational difference between Islam and the West and that the problem for the West is Islam and the problem for Islam is the West. By arguing this, we also maintain Islam, as a universal ideology, came for all of humankind, Muslim and Non-Muslims, and as such it is only Islam that serves as a Rahma (mercy) for all mankind. As the western ideology dominates the world today, the only challenge to it must come from Islam.”
In passing, it is interesting to note that ,” Gandhi himself forged the alliance with the Muslim Khilafat Movement since he, also, wanted to restore (for Hindus) indigenous Hindu political culture and a Hindu model of a State.”
In the UK, we have been concerned when our children brought home such radical Islamic literature and complained of bullying tactics by Islamic gangs. Today we are concerned about niggling issues like halal meat in schools and halal meat and products sold or served without consumer knowledge. There is public concern about Shariat law based Islamic tribunals: an almost parallel legal system.
One wonders if the obvious is being ignored for the same political correctness!
